For months we have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Sony's new FCB-H11 SD/HD block camera.  As of this morning, information was received that there's a good possibility the new block cameras will be arriving at the U.S. Sony factories towards the end of next week.  Although the arrival date is not set in stone (because everything changes daily), this is great news for those who put their orders in early on and even better for those looking to integrate the new camera into their applications.

With its high sensitivity (1.0 lx with ICR-on mode), multi-format video outputs (1080i/720p, and NTSC/PAL) and auto ICR for day/night function, The FCB-H11 HD color video camera module is ideal for applications that require real and dynamic, high resolution images, including (but obviously not limited to):

  • Medical imaging
  • Conferencing
  • Cable TV broadcasting,
  • Sport
  • POV applications

The new Sony FCB-H11 color block camera employs a 1/3-type, HD CMOS image sensor with a 16:9 aspect ratio, boasting two million effective pixels. Not quite ready for High Definition? The FCB-H11 has a flexible multi format feature that also allows for NTSC and PAL Standard Definition (SD) modes.

The FCB-H11 is equipped with a variety of convenient features such as a built-in 10x optical zoom lens, Picture Freeze Function, a SPOT AE Function, and Slow Shutter, all of which have been inherited from the current line of Sony world renowned FCB cameras.

Evaluation units of the FCB-H11 are available for qualified customers, and for those not interested in the Auto ICR and increased sensitivity but still want what this camera has to offer, there is the predecessor of the H11, the ever popular FCB-H10 HD block camera.
